Hi everyone! We’re out on the deck today, and I’m trying to help Mom because she’s a little upset with me.
It all started yesterday after I had that super fun-tastic ride in the police cruiser. I thought she would be happy to hear about my adventures, but ever since the nice policeman (who really liked my kisses) left, I’ve been in the doghouse!
I also happen to know that there will be food out here soon. Oh, here it comes now!
I see brie, muenster, camembert, and even that spicy cheddar jack. I know it’s spicy because I snitched a piece. Mom didn’t like that either! She had to redo the entire platter, even though I only touched one!
I don’t know why my family needs those little flags for picking up the food. One good lick and I could wipe out the entire platter if I wanted to.
Strawberries and grapes go very well with cheese. A grape can keep me busy for a long time. They are very hard to chew when all your teeth are designed for meat!
Yum, there’s salsa and dip too! Will (he’s my boy) loves salsa. If I sit near him I know he’ll slip me a few chips.
Lemonade in Mom’s special blue pitcher! Better keep my tail under control so I don’t knock it over.
Need to watch out for the glasses, too.
Oooh…lemon slices. Tried one of those once, too. Never again.
Blue flowers in Mom’s spatterware pail.
We picked these today. My job was to romp through the bushes looking for the biggest blooms. I really don’t know what Mom would do without me.
White flowers over here, next to the lantern Mom and I painted yesterday. I helped by putting my tail in the paint (look for little brown doggy hairs). Then my nose. Then I decorated the yard with red paw prints.
Very festive for the 4th!
I wonder if there’s any chance of taking a snooze on the sofa?
Or maybe on this one?
I’ll have to wait until Mom’s not watching.
I think it’s game night. Here’s the pen bucket, and some maps.
Can you label all the states and write the abbreviations and capitals? Mom can. She’s smart but NOT as brilliant as I am.
Because I’m going to get some of that cheese!
I might share it with my little pal, the blue dog of happiness.
It’s getting darker and I know what happens then.
So far, no big bang!
Hug your dog!
Play some games! Pass the chips!
And celebrate this great day!
Happy Independence Day!

Very cute post, Linda! Your 4th of July decor is SO pretty! And no, I cannot label the 50 states and capitals. I’d get about 46 right. I get confused when we start heading northwest on the map! lol {Hangs head in shame.}
Happy 4th!

Linda, Your post is just adorable! I love your dog…the look on his face is priceless! Your blue hydrangeas are stunning and your deck, food trays etc look great. In the interest of dog safety, raisins and grapes can be lethal to dogs, resulting in kidney failure. Here’s one article regarding this: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/grapeandraisin.htm
I really did enjoy your post and I wish you a happy 4th.
Beth

Oh, you dog, just keep your nose out of my share of the goodies because I’m really looking forward to them. Your mom did a great job making sure the 4th is a special celebration.
I truly love this post. First off, as told by your sweet doggie, it’s adorable. The tales my Scotties could tell!
I love, love, love the blue quilt and your pillows. The cheese/fruit plate looks yummy and the flag picks are perfect. I really like how you have set up some lovely dishes and accessories on the table. What fun!

Linda, what a lovely table and food you prepared. That blue quilt is just a stunner! Everything is so festive. The candles are great and you certainly captured the beautiful twilight. What a lovely event! Happy 4th.
Dear Nellie, what a great helper you were preparing for the 4th!! What would “mom” do without you! You helped her set a fantastic table, and the decor for your patriotic celebration is awesome!! I have four quinia pigs, and two geckos. They might be a little nervous with you at first, but they’ll warm up to your mischevious “smile”…
Oh I want to hug your dog! Too funny, I so enjoyed his delightful commentary & point of view! Love your cozy & festive setting with your pillows & fun candles in your planter! A few dog hairs never hurt anyone π
I love how your pooch presents your patriotic celebration! And I love that quilt on the table!!!! Thanks for bringing it all to Seasonal Sundays.
