Bird Wisdom

I know some birds mate for life.
But how does Mrs. Birdie manage when Mr. Birdie retires?

Seriously, HOW??

“Tweetie, where are you?  Tweetie, what are you doing?  Tweetie, where are you now?  Tweetie, can you come and play with me?  Tweetie?  Tweetie?

Tweetie?”

Mr. Fun is home for a few weeks recovering from his surgery, and I am getting a glimpse of the future.

Are there support groups for this lifestyle transition?

Sign me up, please.

Maybe Mrs. Birdie remembers that
she holds the key

to Mr. Birdie’s heart.

This could work for me.  I’ll remind Mr. Fun.

  1. I love your little birdies, the key, the heart, all such fun things to work with. About retirement, years ago someone told my husband that the first thing he should do is get an office away from home….very good advice!

  2. Just think of it as a time for rediscovering each other–and get out of the house as often as possible!

Very cute table! Love the single blossom at each place setting!

  3. Hi Linda! LOVE your little birdies AND “Spring Fever” is here! It’s actually HOT OUT! As for your hubby, I don’t know what to say. My hubby and I work side by side SO Retirement won’t really be much different(I GUESS)!
I LOVE your little HEART BOX, SO CUTE!
Hang in there AND Hope your hubby is Up and Around soon(prayers are coming)…
    Big Hugs,
    Donna

  4. I told Sweet Mister that if and when he retires, he needs to find a very active role as a volunteer for some community agency..LOL. Actually he is an avid hunter and fisherman. I don’t think that I’ll have a problem. Darling tablescape. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

  5. Such a sweet post. I’ve been retired almost 2 years. Even though hubby is 6 years older than I am, I think he’s afraid to retire and be home all day with me. hehehe

  6. That is a really gorgeous dish pattern! They’re perfect for your birdie theme! As for survival, I’ll never know because my husband will never retire! πŸ™‚ My Dad retired a few years ago, and my Mother is climbing the walls! I hope your hubby is up and around soon. Have a great weekend!

  7. Hi Linda~ I love your sweet birds with the tulips at each place setting! Your tulip photo is beautiful~

I myself was just wondering the very same thing spending after a loooonng weekend together~ LOL! I hope your husband’s recovery goes well and he doesn’t make you fly away from the nest πŸ™‚

  8. Such a sweet post! I like how you wrote this post and your thoughts with a fun and cute tablescape… love the little birdie and the cute key and those white plates are so gorgeous:) Your beautiful table setting is so perfect for spring:)Wishing your husband a speedy recovery from his surgery and shared togetherness for years to come:) Thanks for your sweet visit and loving comments on my decorative books. Have a delightful weekend!~Poppy

  9. Hi Linda, I’m so happy to see you are back at your blog, I missed you and your lovely posts. I had a great chuckle over the cloches/bell glass. Around here they are also marked bell glass on the sales tag. I can just see the Colonial Williamsburg character’s face if you tried to explain to him the bell jar was needed for a party and not to warm your seedlings. I love your vignette with the cloche and the Nicholas Mosse pottery. I saw lots of it in Ireland and can you believe I didn’t buy any? I intended to but time got away from me. Happy St. Patrick’s Day Linda!

  10. I’m so happy to hear that your husband is on the mend, but you do make me laugh. A very close friend’s husband just retired and she is having a fit! Good luck!
