Three Cheers

Three cheers for the red, white and blue,
for picnic baskets
 and Mary too!

I was preparing the deck for upcoming celebrations with the help of my furry personal assistant, when the doorbell rang.

I knew something special was coming because I had recently heard from Mary that I was the winner of her fabulous “Home Is Where the Boat Is” giveaway!
But I was not prepared for the extent of the fabulousness.  That’s a new word I coined for my present.

Now three things that get my pulse going are
baskets, tins, and picnics!!  So three cheers rang out when I opened the box!

A tin, plaid picnic basket with adorable handles!!!!
I danced around with it for awhile (Nellie is also my dance partner) until one of the kids said, “What’s inside?”

I had forgotten to look–I was just having so much fun.  But this is what I found!
Mary is one of the best when it comes to setting the table with Perfect Accessories.  I can study her posts many times and find inspiration again and again.
The perfect note card (and message too!)

I have never eaten a moon pie, but after Mary’s recent post about them I was curious.  They look soooo good.
Yum.  Chocolate.  Yum.
Did I say Yum?

These gorgeous napkins will keep things tidy and I already have an idea for a table using them! 🙂

Nellie was very excited, and I thought she was catching the aroma of the chocolate moon pies, until I opened one of the wrapped packages.

I tried to get a picture of the treats, but my usually well behaved (ha!) pooch refused to “wait.”
They are apparently delicious!

Nellie says, “Thank you Chloe and Gracie!  I’ll party with you anytime!”

Before I knew all my blogging friends I had bookmarked a page I found on the internet, labeling it “great ideas for red, white and blue.”

Of course, it was a post by Mary, although I did not realize it until recently when I clicked on my bookmark for inspiration.  And now I have not only ideas from her, but also these goodies
~~ sparklers (I’m terrified and fascinated!!) ~~ pinwheels, straws, sprinkles, small flags to wave vigorously, edible decorations and patriotic cupcake liners ~~

~~ all very happy additions to this very patriotic home ~~

Mary, thank you from the bottom of my heart! 🙂
This surprise is just what I needed right now.

I know we will use this wonderful basket all summer.
It is going to New Hampshire with us in August, so stay tuned!

  1. Linda~ I’m so glad your basket arrived safely and that Nellie is enjoying her pooch-approved treats! Thanks for all your kind words and high praise on this High Flying Holiday! Wishing you and your family many hours of happy picnicking in the future~ Happy Independence Day 🙂

  2. Thanks for stopping by. I must say, I will never boil potatoes again. I know what you mean about the starchy mess. This salad was a rec from a friend and it was perfect! I hope you try it and enjoy. I love your mosaic candle holders and that gift box looks like a lot of fun! Happy 4th!!

  3. Linda, I’ll raise a toast to Mary, Chloe, and Gracie too. I’ve been on the receiving end of Mary’s generosity and thoughtfulness. She is amazingly creative, and absolutely the kindest individual. What a fun patriotic package she sent your way. I rushed out and bought one of those tin baskets for myself the first day she posted about it. Love it! It will be a well used item around here.
Hope your 4th was filled with fun. Can still here fireworks around here. 😉

Great idea to add the sprinkles to your morning waffles. I’m going to add a jar of these to my panty so I’ll be ready. 😉

  4. Wow, what a treasure trove you found in that picnic basket tin! And that was so sweet of Mary to remember a treat for Nellie! You will have fun with all the goodies, and I hope you are now a Moon Pie aficionado! Mama used to pack those in our lunches as a special surprise. Thank you for your lovely comments on my table this week!

  5. You were a lucky one to win Mary’s basket. When I saw Linda had won I was hoping it was me! Your candles are adorable. I’m rarely in my own place on July 4 and have very little to work with on that holiday. I look forward to being in touch!

  6. You lucky, lucky girl!!! I would’ve loved that gift! Mary did it up right, didn’t she? Every detail, just like her posts, including the adorable note card. And your post about it was fun…I could FEEL the fun of it all!! YOur own deck looks great. I love that star pillow. I thought I was following you–I visit often–but I wasn’t, so I am now. I did a patriotic table too, so I invite you to visit back and follow back if you’d like. ~Zuni
