Independence Day Table

In just one week I will be celebrating the one year anniversary of my very first post!!  I remember so well the terror I felt as I clicked the “publish” button and the joy I felt when I received several positive comments and followers!

I am republishing that post today–I hope you enjoy it.
Please be sure to visit next Thursday for my actual  blogaversary and giveaway for my friends and followers!

Thank you all for making my first year so much FUN!
and now, back to post # 1

Independence Day was sizzling hot here in Connecticut.  The back deck was the perfect spot to set our starspangled table!

The napkin rings, votive holders and little candles provided the fireworks.  Even the hydrangea from the yard fit into the patriotic color scheme!

Word soon got around that there was yummy homemade potato salad, corn on the cob, bbq chicken and caprese salad!  And of course, refreshing, cold, iced tea with fresh mint!

Visitors arrived from far away, bringing the colors and music for us to enjoy!  First, the Williamsburg militia arrived.
They were followed by Uncle Sam, a blue fish, and a little star who entertained Mr. Fun!

There were so many things to celebrate on this great day!!!

Of course, after a feast like this, there’s certainly no room for dessert!  Or is there always room…?

As the sun set on this glorious, sweltering day, the candles and fireworks were lit.

The elusive blue hour added the perfect final touch!

I hope you enjoyed your visit or re-visit!  Please be sure to visit many more of the wonderful tables at

  15. Linda, I love this tablescape! So summery and patriotic and fun! Even Nature was helping out by giving you such a gorgeous hydrangea! I can’t wait to see your anniversary post!

  16. Your first post was sensational. I think mine was one pic and a couple of words. I didn’t have a clue or anything I thought was worth sharing. Your did good and congrats on the lst year.

Thanks for the lovely comment on the cake. I so hope it is similar to the one your DH use to have. It was always my favorite. I don’t have my mom’s fudge frosting recipe. I sure wish I did. I cheat since I can’t make a good fudge frosting and just use the can fudge. It is good. I hope you like the cake. The secret with this cake is to make sure you don’t over bake it. Just keep an eye on it in the oven. Let me know what he thinks. Hugs, Marty

  17. Thank you for re-posting since I think I missed this last year (I was pretty new myself!)

Charming and beautiful patriotic table…love all of your “visitors” who helped you celebrate!
